Thank you to iPad Application Reviews, AppAdvice and The Homeschool Post for helping to promote our Advent Calendar app. The iPad Application Reviews and AppAdvice sites both wrote such nice reviews about the app. The Homeschool Post gave away promotional codes through their twitter account. This has become more fun with so much support.
I’ve added two more characters to my Sly Cooper artwork. The girl is Inspector Carmelita Fox, who is chasing Sly Cooper. The angry owl flying above Bentley and Murray is called “Clockwerk”. Clockwerk used to be immortal until Sly destroyed him … twice. He is now destroyed, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in Sly Cooper Thieves In Time since the gang is using time travel. Here is a picture. By the way, the figures are called Color Blanks. I found them at Target in the art section. I color them with markers.
Here’s another maze that my math teacher gave us. This one is a little different than the others because the object is to jump over lines instead of figuring out a path. I think it makes the maze a little more fun.
We can’t believe that Geekdad wrote an article about our Interactive Advent Calendar app on wired.com! I’m so honored and excited! My dad came home on Monday and showed me the article about the app. We were high-fiving and congratulating each other. Since then I’ve been showing all of my friends and family.
My dad first introduced me to Geekdad a couple of years ago when they interviewed Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the creators of Phineas and Ferb on the Geekdad podcast. Since then we’ve enjoyed a lot of their articles and even entered a few of their contests. One of my favorite articles is the one where they promoted a “box of mystery” contest that we entered. We didn’t win that contest, but I think an article about our app is much better. Thanks Nathan Barry (@geekDadNath on Twitter) for writing such a great article!

Here is another challenging math maze I got from math class. You have to turn left or right only and can’t move in a straight line. You can’t make a u-turn either.

Bobo explores with HelloTyler! Our new podcast is complete. This month we review Bobo Explores Light, which is an iPad app that we found very fun.
My dad and I have been working on an iPad app for the last month. The app is an interactive advent calendar. I drew two characters that live in an igloo. Every day, starting December 1, users can open up a new present every day for the characters to interact with. I drew all the artwork on paper, then I colored all of it in Photoshop. I learned a lot of Photoshop features that I didn’t know about before. I also created some frame based animation for the different items. I’ve created some games on my own before this, but this is the first time I ever worked on one so detailed. My dad taught me some programming basics like functions, event listeners, arrays, objects and other geeky stuff. My little sister helped with the sound effects.
Here is some artwork from the calendar. I will post another update when the app is in the store. We are hoping to also put the app in the Android Marketplace.
Disney is making a Muppet movie and releasing it at Thanksgiving. I can’t wait to see it! Here is the trailer.
